(Nov 14 2008) Hey! We have a new record. It's out on Nov 28 and is a concept album named WINTER. Pleaser order it from us, or if you're in America from Enginge Room, details in a few days: We will put a new video every third day out on our Vimeo channel, please enjoy. And Björn wrote a contribution for Sarahana's blog where she asked people what they did when Obama was elected, it's here. By the way: we'll be back to the East Coast for a couple of shows in January! (Sept 30 2008) We're slowly bringing the english quarters of this homepage up to date - some of the information on our past releases has already been translated, the rest will follow soon. While you wait (and since some of you have asked for them) - feel free to check out the german lyrics for Saurus. (Sept 24 2008) While we've been busy putting the finishing touches to our recordings here in Brooklyn (and trying to find time to enjoy some of the sunshine) we met the wonderful Sarahana of the hooves on the turf blog to play some songs, talk a bit about our days in the US of A and meet the fans!Check it out here: http://hoovesontheturf.com/200809/locas-in-love/
(Aug 20 2008) We'll be playing Pianos (Ludlow St) in New York City on Sept. 9 together with our friends from The Bloodsugars! In other news: Stefanie's site is finally back on the web, be sure to check it out. (Apr 01 2007) New download in the music section: High Pain Drifter as played live on the morning show on Radio 1 in Potsdam, Germany. Get it while it's fresh. (Mar 18 2007) A couple of days ago we were invited to Radio 1, a pretty darn good radio station in Potsdam, close to Berlin. You can listen to our interiew (and a live version of our song High Pain Drifter) here. In further news: One of our favorite bands, The National, has personally invited us to be the opening act for their one and only (at least for this tour) German show. We couldn't be any more excited about this and urge all of you to be there. (Mar 05 2007) On Youtube as of now: Our Hearts & The Real World, filmed in Munich, November 2006. (Feb 09 2007) Today is the official release date of our new record SAURUS! At least here in Europe it is - as we've mentioned before we're still working out the details of the American release. However we sincerely invite (and, actually, urge) everyone from everywhere to check the shop on our site - we ship worldwide. If you'd like to know a bit more about the record or to sneak a peak at the amazing artwork, please visit this little site. We will have more information up soon, promise. (Dec 31 2006) Usually we're like Bob Dylan on this one and say don't look back. But in 2006 a short look back is due, seeing that time just flew by in a big rush. We've played merely 25 shows this year: The least enjoyable one was in Lüneburg, the best ones were in Northampton, New York, Herzogenrath, Stuttgart and Munich. Really, we only played a single show that wasn't a lot of fun, with the remaining 24 it's really hard to just go and pick five for the top list. They were all good. During the year we've learnt to love Bruce Springsteen's 'Born To Run', we played two tours with Arab Strap, a concert with a youth orchestra, we went through an adventurous music-biz bidding war with our other band Katpatenhund, we've released one EP with each band and both bands also finished recording an album (and both records we mixed with Peter Katis in Bridgeport). We spent about 200 days working on music: working in studios, touring, mixing, mastering, meetings and so on. Time spent praticing isn't even part of this calculation. All in all it's been a good year and we don't feel like we've wasted our time or like we made too many wrong decisions. Having finished our second album SAURUS is the most remarkable part of the year for us, since we had gotten to a point where it felt like we were losing the plot, like we were getting stuck in a rut of always starting over and over again. Suddenly someone must have flipped a switch and things fell in place. Quite amazing, really. We're afraid we won't get to play a lot of shows in 2007 either since we will be busy working with Karpatenhund, trying to make it big. But before all that SAURUS will be released in February 2007, we will be playing shows in the bigger German cities in spring and we'll see about everything else as we move along. If everything works as planned, SAURUS is also going to be released in the US next fall; but compared to all those yesterday's news, this is totally tomorrow's news and one of those tomorrows, we'll address to it in detail. Getting back into a retrospetive mode: We're all doing pretty fine as of now. We feel like things are happening like never before. We've got new guitars and effects and are looking forward to the future instead of feeling like it's something that's out there to get us.
(Dec 06 2006) Finally we've got a gallery of photos from our fall tour of the US up and running. Find the links on our Images page. (Oct 19 2006) The bug in the downloadable videos has just been fixed and you can watch Die Apokalypse... at the Popfest New England in Northampton now.
(Oct 15 2006) So we've made it back to Germany, although we returned somewhat reluctantly. Our diary on myspace will be completed in a couple of days, we hope to have some photos up soon, too. Until then feel free to check out some of the video clips taken from our three shows in the US, they are filed under images to download ot as youtube-stream. Details of how and when our album will be released are being figured out right now, we'll keep you posted. Right now we're off to France for 17 days to record our first album with our second band Karpatenhund. Great news, too: on their two last German shows, we'll be Arab Strap's special guest.
(Sept 30 2006) We're off to the USA in a few hours. Last night's concert in Luxembourg was very nice. It was the release party of the first Panoplie-Sampler which is out now on CD and LP. It sounds fantastic and looks even better. Robi and his friends have done a great job and we're happy to be part of it. Check out some film noir bootleg of a new and yet untitled song we played yesterday under images. On our myspace site there is a little special because of our trip to America. In our top friends list we compiled some bands, people, labels and so on that made the whole thing possible, that we'll meet and whom we'll play with. We'll try to write a diary in our myspace blog as regularly as possible (in English, German version on this site). OK now, take care and see you. And... if you know some people on the east coast be sure to send them to one of our three US shows. If you feel like it you can even send them links to these flyers: (Sept 17 2006) This day was spent picking up a dozen of kids, recording them as a choir, eating some cake and driving our new friends back to their houses. The effort was definitely worth it, since we feel as if we've completed our first Top Ten Hit Single. If a bunch of pre-teens singing 'that goddamn Germany made me do it' won't take us up the charts, I guess nothing will. Also check this out: Magnus of Iceland's finest, Dyrdin, has put up a nice interview blog with Björn. It may very well be the most informative thing in English on this band. The rest of this site is also a big recommendation. Great music to discover. (Sept 1st 2006) Oi! We're damn close to finisihing our album. 3 more days of recording and we should be done. On October 1st, exactly in one month, we'll be off to the US of A to play the Popfest New England and mix the songs with Peter Katis in his studio. You cannot imagine how hippy-happy and excited this band is. If you live in the USA and would like to get together with us, invite us to play a show or maybe even to your house or apartment to spend a night and hang around please write us. Really. By the way, our album will be out in December pretty sure. (May 23rd 2006) Hey, we're on tour in Germany right now with our new CD-EP. In case you're one of our international friends and can't visit us, you can at least check our diary on myspace. If you want one of the very limited very beautiful CDs write us an email. (March 31 2006) Myspace inspired us to relaunch the English section of this site. It's very sparse as of now. We'll hopefully change that in the next days and weeks. Maybe we won't use this news department very much but rather post blogs in English on our myspace-site. Does this make sense? Write us.
